Selected works
Series
A series gathers works that come out of one system or one question, and is held together by the order in which the works are meant to be read. Series are available as single works or complete, and where a set is sold complete the sequence travels with it.
Algorithmic art is not a recent development. From 5 to 19 February 1965, Georg Nees showed drawings made by a computer running a program he had written himself, at the Studiengalerie of the Technische Hochschule in Stuttgart; Max Bense, who introduced the work, named the practice generative aesthetics in the essay published with it.
Sixty years on the instruments have changed and the questions have not: what is fixed and what is left to the process, who is answerable for the result, and what precisely is acquired when the work is bought.
